Child Eye Care in Surrey
It is very important to regularly have ocular examinations in children as 80% of a child’s learning is based on vision. Also, in the early years of growth, there is a critical period of ocular development that is important for optimal functioning of the visual system. During this time period, it is important to identify any abnormalities in children’s vision to make sure that the eyes develop properly to ensure success at home, school and play.
Children should have a complete ocular examination at six months, before kindergarten, and annually throughout the school years to ensure optimal eye health and development.
Your child may have a vision related problem if experiencing:
- headaches
- rubbing eyes
- avoidance of distance or near work
- sitting close to the television
- an eye that turns in or out
- excessive blinking or squinting
- a lack of concentration
