An ocular exam can determine many underlying health issues such as high blood pressure and Type 2 diabetes to brain or eye tumors. Generally, adults aged 19 to 64 should have ocular exams at least every 2 years unless there other other underlying conditions such has Type 1 or 2 diabetes or certain ocular conditions which needed to be monitored with more frequency. At age 65 and older, the ocular examination frequency should be once a year to maintain optimal vision.
